This delightful property offers a tranquil country setting, beautiful views over the Château’s vineyards and gardens, together with all the home comforts you could wish for.

The “Gîte au Château” is situated on the land of Château de La Ligne, a ravishing 17th century château atop a hill which overlooks the charming country village of Lignan de Bordeaux, approximately 20 kilometres from Bordeaux city centre.

Surrounded by the Château vineyards and parkland this house offers spectacular views of the countryside which can be admired either from the gîte’s South-facing patio, sitting-room and all of the kitchen and bedroom windows.

This 5 bed-roomed house which sleeps 10 adults has a fully equipped kitchen, 3 bathrooms with shower and toilet each, a separate toilet and washbasin, a large spacious sitting room, pretty private patio, garden and plenty of safe parking space.

The “Gîte au Château” is built from the traditional blond limestone typical of this area in South West France.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES & PLACES OF INTEREST :

On the property : A private tennis court exclusive to gîte guests. Walks in the château grounds & woods. Visits to the wine-making facilities & tasting on appointment.

In the village of Lignan : The village below is a 5 minute walk away. Here you will find the “Entre-Deux-Mers” Bicycle track which extends 40 kilometres from Bordeaux to La Sauve. Bikes are available for hire in the nearby town of Créon.

For those who would rather watch than bike, the local bar/brasserie with it’s pleasant patio looks out onto the bike track. Here simple meals are on offer as well as fresh bread every morning.

Local markets : there is a colourful village/town market for every day of the week within a 10km radius of Lignan.

The City of Bordeaux : 20km : In 2007, Bordeaux deservedly acquired Unesco Monument status. A trip to the historical centre is a must, as is a walk along the beautifully landscaped Garonne Riverbank where an organic market is held every Sunday morning including stalls selling fresh oysters & white wine!
Culture abounds in this elegant metropolis : with a host of museums & art galleries also the fabulous 18th century Opera House – well worth a visit.
Here wine & cheese shops and an excellent choice of restaurants will delight the gourmets.
There is also a lively pedestrian centre packed with boutiques for the shopaholics!
To avoid the traffic, a modern, easy to use tram system provides the opportunity to “Park n’ride” : The nearest tram car park is 15 mins’ drive from Lignan.

St.Emilion : 35 km : Also a Unesco Monument site, this charming mediaeval city is also the famous centre of the Right Bank Bordeaux wines. The city is perched upon a limestone plateau called the “Hill of 1000 Châteaux” and is surrounded on all sides by some of the most illustrious wine properties of the world. Many of the châteaux are open to the public for visits & tastings. To take a stroll through the city centre is to be transported back six centuries. Ancient underground quarries provide unexpected treasures and there is a wine shop on every corner offering a glass or two of Bordeaux…….Convinced?

Bassin d’Arcachon / Atlantic Coast : 60 km : The Cap Ferret peninsular with its typical oyster fishing villages makes a super day trip. As does the lively sea resort of Arcachon with its beautiful sandy beaches, turn of the century jetty and old-style villas. Choose the ‘Bassin’ side for safe swimming & water sports or the Atlantic side for surf. A ferry service operates all day & evening from Arcachon to Cap Ferret.

Boats, catamarans, jet-skis & surfboards are available for hire.

The Medoc & Graves Wine Regions : 45 km & 20 km : For enthusiasts, the great châteaux of the Medoc & Graves regions offer a wide range of fascinating visits. Centuries of fine wine making in impressive properties with beautiful scenery as a backdrop makes for a great day out. World famous names and exquisite wines are a way of life here.

RENTAL PRICES :

High season : July - August : 1 800/week or 3 300 euros/fortnight.

Spring/Autumn season : May/June/Sept/Oct : 1 250 euros/week or 2 200 euros/fortnight.

Low season : March/April/Nov : 950 euros/week or 1 600 euros/fortnight.

Prices include electricity/water/bed linen rental.
